What is Hyundai Driving Assist?

Hyundai Highway Driving Assist (HDA) is a feature included in the Hyundai SmartSense safety package. It's aimed at aiding drivers during long commutes and road trips by making highway drives easier to manage. Here's what you need to know about it:

Functionality of HAD

The HDA system is designed to work collaboratively with the Smart Cruise Control (SCC) and Lane Following Assist (LFA) features in your Hyundai. Its main functionalities are:

  1. Maintaining a Safe Distance: HDA helps in keeping a safe gap from the vehicle ahead of you by adjusting your speed automatically, depending on the flow of the traffic.
  2. Lane Centering: It assists in keeping your vehicle centered in your lane, thus reducing the burden of constant steering adjustments during highway drives.
  3. Speed Limit Adherence: The system also assists in adhering to the speed limits of the road you are on, utilizing GPS location and available highway data to adjust the speed of your vehicle accordingly.

Activating Highway Driving Assist

To activate the HDA, follow these steps:

  1. Press the SETUP button on your vehicle's dashboard.
  2. Select the "Vehicle" icon from your touchscreen display.
  3. Choose "Driver Assistance" from the list of options presented in the menu.
  4. Select the Highway Driving Assist checkbox to activate it (or deselect to deactivate).

Using the HDA System

To use the HDA, some prerequisites need to be met. Firstly, activate the Smart Cruise Control feature by pressing the CRUISE button on your steering wheel. Once activated, the SCC icon will change to HDA on the instrument cluster.

Furthermore, ensure the following criteria are met for the HDA system to function:

  1. Smart Cruise Control is engaged.
  2. You are driving on a road that is recognized as part of the interstate highway system.
  3. Your vehicle's speed is maintained below 95 MPH.

Note that the HDA will disengage if it detects a light grip or no hands on the steering wheel. To resume using HDA, press the CRUISE button on your steering wheel again.

This system is created to augment driving safety and ease, particularly during long highway journeys, assisting in a more relaxed driving experience.
